Karen's story
When Karen found herself unhoused in 2021, she was living in a women’s shelter while also dealing with a disability that affects her mobility.
When Karen finally got connected with an apartment at Tahoma Valley, Karen not only found a place to call home, but also a place that provides a dignifying space with quality amenities and accessible spaces for her mobility limitations.
Prior to moving to Tahoma Valley, Karen felt at times that she wanted to give up, but through the support of her housing counselor and employees at Tahoma Valley, she has found a home where she experiences freedom, security and stability.
Looking forward, Karen will begin a volunteer position educating the public on dementia and Alzheimer's. She looks forward to pursuing more opportunities in the future that are now available to her because she was able to find a stable place to call home.
