About Mt. Baker Housing

Born & raised in
Southeast Seattle

In 1988 a group of community members came together, determined to preserve the Mt. Baker Village Apartments – a 9-building complex that had become home to many Khmer refugees and Khmer American families. Through extensive rehabilitation from 1988 to 1990, those buildings were transformed into a lasting symbol of community strength and the power of partnership. Mt. Baker Housing was born from this resilience, and we continue in that spirit today.

Who We Are

1

MBH by the Numbers

Our resident community spans 8 properties along the Rainier Avenue corridor, from Mt. Baker south to Skyway. Our housing serves some of Seattle’s most diverse communities, many of whom are immigrants, refugees, and families of color disproportionately impacted by the city’s housing affordability crisis. We recognize these inequities and are committed to addressing them through every unit we build and every partnership we form.

  • 766 units

  • Serving 1,050+ residents

Looking ahead, we are advancing bold plans to meet the ever-growing demand for affordable housing. We're expecting to add 600 more affordable housing units for 1500+ residents.

  • Early 2027: 221 units

  • Early 2028: 189 units

  • Early 2029: 170 units

Supporting Housing Stability

At Mt. Baker Housing, our approach to managing and operating our portfolio of affordable homes is grounded in a commitment to quality, resident well-being, and long-term sustainability.

We recognize that affordable housing is more than just a physical structure. It is the foundation for stability, opportunity, and community. As such, we not only hold ourselves to high maintenance standards, but also work collaboratively with property management to provide residents with access to services tailored to meet their individual needs.

Offering Tailored Services

Mt. Baker Housing’s Resident Services program provides personalized, culturally responsive support to help residents access vital resources like healthcare, transportation, job training, and opportunities for social connection.

Rooted in three pillars—resident assistance, community events, and resident-led initiatives—our services go beyond basic support to fostering stability, empowerment, and a deep sense of belonging within our communities. By meeting residents where they are, we help build stronger ties among neighbors and create vibrant, inclusive communities.

Centering Community in Development

At Mt. Baker Housing, we believe real estate development is about more than buildings. It is about people, community, and opportunity. We create safe, stable, and affordable housing through inclusive, community-driven development that reflects the values and needs of the neighborhoods we serve. Guided by sustainability, equity, and long-term affordability, we partner with local organizations to foster thriving communities where families can dream, small businesses can grow, and future generations can thrive.
