community leaders

Mt. Baker Housing is guided by a committed Board of Directors who share our vision of a Southeast Seattle where everyone has a secure, affordable place to live.

 

Our board brings diverse experience, perspectives, and leadership that keep Mt. Baker Housing strong, resilient, and mission-driven. Together, they help us build not just homes, but lasting community stability and brighter futures for generations to come.

Russ Woodruff, Chair

Milestone Management Group

​Russ' passion is providing top quality project management services to public and nonprofit, community-based clients.  Russ has over 30 years of experience including public, non-profit and community-based organizations. He serves on nonprofit boards providing and supporting affordable housing, youth development programs, and independent school education.  

Elissa Fink, Director

Retired, former Tableau CMO

Elissa Fink serves on several boards, including not-for-profits Mt. Baker Housing and Salmon-Safe, as well as tech companies Dataiku, Qumulo, Seekout, and Pantheon. Fink served as CMO for 11+ years at one of Seattle’s legendary startups Tableau Software (now owned by Salesforce). Responsible for the company’s brand, community and all aspects of marketing, she helped take the company from ~$5 million to over $1 billion in revenue. She has also taught multiple graduate marketing and communications courses at the University of Washington.

Bryon Gongaware, Vice Chair

Real Estate Developer

Bryon has been a board member of Mt. Baker Housing’s Board since 2015. With over 20 years of experience in real estate development, investment, and portfolio management, he was the Managing Director of Security Properties' Affordable Housing Group until 2023. Bryon successfully built a $1.0+ billion portfolio of affordable housing properties across the United States, utilizing various financing methods, including affordable housing tax credits. His expertise spans the entire development cycle of affordable housing, from planning and construction to financing and property management.

Nancy Henderson, Director

Founder, ArchEcology

Nancy is an architect with over 30 years’ experience.  She is the owner of a small consulting firm focused on sustainable design which she started in 2006.   Nancy has served on the MBH board since 2012. She is passionate about the work MBH does to provide quality affordable housing and resident services. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and birdwatching.

Jill Fleming, Treasurer

Retired, Community Roots Housing

​Jill Fleming is the Board Treasurer and has served on the board twice, 2007 - 2012, and currently since 2022. A lifelong Seattle resident, she volunteers at the Log Cabin Museum in West Seattle. Retired from a long career in affordable housing finance and development, she enjoys mentoring the next generation of affordable housers.

Secretary

Partner, LMN Architects

A Partner at LMN Architects, Osama’s professional career has been grounded by a strong commitment to connect architecture to culture and place. His projects range from educational campuses, cultural buildings, and interpretive facilities to complex civic green-infrastructure projects that stitch together neighborhoods and communities. Osama’s notable work includes the Seattle Aquarium Ocean Pavilion, educational facilities for Seattle Academy, Lakeside School, and the University of Washington, several Sound Transit Link stations, and the land bridges and lids for the SR 520 West Approach project. Osama is a long-time resident and member of the SE Seattle community.  In addition to his role on the Mt Baker Housing Board, he has held several positions on boards and commissions, including the Seattle Design Commission, AIA Seattle’s Public Policy Board, AIA Seattle’s Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion Council, the Yesler Terrace Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Washington ACE Mentor Program Board.
